David Treneer 2007-now

David Treneer was appointed by the church to be pastor in May 2007, after being at the church since 1998, with his family, wife Laura and daughters Lila and Amy.

David Treneer became a member of Holland Road in the late '90s, when he was working nearby as a consultant engineer. David had recently graduated from Cambridge with a Masters degree in engineering.  He had grown up in Nairobi, Kenya, part of a missionary family, and has a strong connection with all things African! In 2002 David took up an invitation to become Rhy's assistant pastor, (part-time initially to allow room for studies, which have developed over the years, and currently include a Masters from Spurgeons College in Applied Theology.)  When Rhys left for the States in Nov 2005, David stayed as Acting Pastor, and 18 months later was asked by the elders to reconsider whether he'd be willing to put his name forward to the Pastoral Search Team. After undergoing the same process as would have been required of an external candidate, David was recommended to the church, who appointed him as the pastor in May 2007 (with singing in the street!).  David is passionate about teaching God's Word, about a life filled with the Spirit and reaching out both to those in our local community and around the world.  He loves spending time with his wife Laura and daughters Lila and Amy, and he loves the people that make up Holland Road Baptist Church. The Time Team began in January 2008, a new full-time volunteer training programme based at the church allowing people to give time to mission, ministry and training. Sean Avard was appointed as the Church Manager in September 2008. There continue to be many other developments in the life of the church, which you can read about on this site or by downloading the church magazine, which has a letter from David each month.
