Wales
From initial beginnings by Rhys Stenner back in 1994 - who had recently become pastor, and had Welsh affiliations - regular teams from Holland Road have visited the valleys of Wales at the invitation of churches in Christian love and mission.
In recent years they have been joined by groups from New Hope Baptist Church in Fayetteville, Georgia, USA. The aim is to serve the churches and communities of the valleys with a combination of regular short, smaller team visits and a main partnership mission each summer.
We are:
- Encouraging the local church by holding special meetings and events
- Helping the churches to meet some of the community needs in an area of spiritual, economic and moral decline. This is done either directly or with other local agencies
- Raising a prayer ministry and bringing the wider Christian community together to share a common strategy
- Influencing future generations by ministering in schools - assemblies, concerts, RE lessons
- Searching for ways to help bring about economic regeneration of the Valleys
- Organising leadership development and strategic planning forums
- Offering a longer term ongoing presence
- Partnering with local churches in evangelism
Starting from small beginnings we are now partnering with over 30 churches across the denominations and are spreading the area of work from the Merthyr, Taff and Cynon valleys to the Abergavenny and Rhondda areas.
The impact of the mission on all those involved has been so inspiring and faith-building. As the work continues we are hoping, with God's strength and leading, to deepen and widen our vision for His work in the place.
